The pit bull was found on the streets in 2010 by the shelter volunteers and staffs. He has big smiles and loveable characteristic. The dog has been named Chester and lived at North Fork Animal Welfare League to wait for adoption.
Sadly, people didn’t want to adopt an old dog like Chester, so Chester had to wait for 5 years.
One day, Manage of North Fork Animal Welfare League, Mr Gabby Stroup decided to create a Facebook page. Stroup said: “Someone suggested I make him his own page and I did, at about 3:30 PM”. He named it as “Chester Waiting Five years” a share a photo of Chester with a cardboard sign: “Why doesn’t anybody want me? I’ve been waiting 5 years. Everyone at the shelter tells me what a good boy I am. So why has no one adopted me? I promise to be good and love my new family…. I sit and wait for you to come. – Chester”.
Stroup hoped Chester will find a family that truly loves him as a family member.
A lot of family sent request to adopt Chester rapidly. “And that evening there were close to 2000 likes. It was by far the most amazing thing I have ever seen – the amount of people who shared and called or emailed was amazing. This was one of the happiest days,” Stroup was stunned about Chester’s adoption inquiries.
Dana Dor and her family was the perfect choice for Chester. Now he is officially become a member of her family.
Since then, Chester’s Facebook page has been used for posting information about other dogs at North Fork Animal Welfare League. They are also wait for new homes.
